COLOUR TRANSPARENCY info

All of our customised colours require a different level of effort from our guests to maintain them at home.

Please don’t be in the dark and read it ALL properly

HISTORY

All information regarding your hair condition and previous colour must be discussed for your colour expert to make the right decisions to protect your hair. This means hair history and lifestyle. For example, if you ever used any form of hair colour, if you swim, frequency of heat used on the hair etc...

COLOUR RESPONSIBLE POLICY

All guests visiting Roar must have a Valid AAT also known as a skin test.

Guests will require a new AAT if,

  • You have coloured your hair at home

  • You are or could be pregnant

  • You are a new guest to Roar

  • Your regular colour application at Roar has fallen out-with a 6-month period

We are unable to carry out colour services without a valid AAT

We are unable to carry out colour services on anyone under the age of 16

If we feel that your hair condition will suffer severely from your desired service, we reserve the right to refuse to colour your hair. (sorry)

Here is most of the things you need to know.

WHITE HAIR COVERAGE

For a lot of our bespoke colour services our guests will require some degree of white or grey hair coverage. We ask that for optimum white coverage our guests arrive at Roar with your hair washed the night before, 100% dry and with no coverage products applied (root touch up sprays etc)

BLEACH

Bleach is a corrosive product. This means that it is designed to disintegrate the internal structure of the hair to lighten it. This can leave the hair in an often-fragile state when we are extreme lightening. Without taking the correct after care precautions the hair COULD be prone to breakage months after your appointment. Much like skydiving you are taking calculated risks assessed by highly trained professionals, however they are risks none the less.

There is no skin test for a bleaching process which means that often bleach on the scalp can cause irritation, redness and itching. In some rare cases, small sores that reduce in a few days can occur. Discomfort can be reduced by NOT washing the hair for a few days before you appointment to let the scalps acid mantel build up and act as a protective layer.

Irritation is normal however if you feel severe discomfort, please let your colour expert know as soon as possible.

FADE

All colours whether permanent or ammonia free fade. All hair colour will also fade or wash up “warm”. Longevity of colour depends on the condition and porosity of the hair so in many cases there is no way for us to know how long they will last.

TONERS

In case you’re not really sure what a toner is….. it’s a product that helps you correct or personalise your colour. It is used to add natural or more visible tones after a professional colour treatment. As a result, it enhances the tonality of your hair.

A professional in-salon toner is more pigmented than a silver shampoo or purple shampoo that is used at home. However, these products are excellent products to maintain a bright or cool colour between salon appointments.

Toners are not permanent and will need to be topped up in the salon. We also have options available to top up toners at home.

STAINING

Some colours can stain the hair and scalp and may not come out of the hair completely. Vivid colours leave a light residue on pretty much everything. We provide an optional LOCK service to minimise this after a vivid colour application however please still watch out for your pillows, towels and other household objects. As much as we will always try to avoid it, hairline staining is very common. It is important for us to mention that we do not accept responsibility for personal belongings including clothing that is not placed into one of our “Guest Boxes” during any visit.

SHAMPOOING/INTENSE CONDITIONING

Your hair will only be protected against ongoing deterioration and excessive colour fade by using premium aftercare products. We only stock products that are made by the colour manufacturer to look after our unique colour creations. Please be aware, both colour and condition are in jeopardy by using non-professional products.

PROTECTION FROM DISINTGRATION

The maximum protection we can offer in salon for any lightening service is our Bondpro+ Inter-Amino-Bonding-System it protects and strengthens the hair fibre and prevents breakage. We would strongly recommend that you add this to any lightening service for maximum protection.

COLOUR CARE

To minimise fade, please try to keep heat styling to a minimum. All our styling products contain heat protection and are colour safe.

2-3 times a week max is perfect for washing your hair. If however you feel it needs more cleaning a cleansing conditioner would be ideal. We also have products which are dry cleansing to absorb oil and these also act as a second day styling product to allow maximum time between washes. We also stock a specific Everyday range if you really need to wash you hair every day.

Swimming, pollution, sudden changes in temperature, UV rays and water that is too hard or too hot will all contribute to colour fade. Lukewarm water is far better for washing colour treated hair so that your colour lasts longer. All our products we recommend contain a UV filter and will of course look after your colour.

Make time for masking! Treatments at home as well as in salon work wonders to nourish your hair making your colour last longer. Some guests may need to switch from a conditioner to a mask permanently because their hair needs that extra moisture.

Our Colour Revive Products are specific products designed to freshen up your hair colour between visits. These products keep your tones perfect for longer. For our Blonde guests we also have our Light Dimensions Mouse to remove brassiness until your next toner.

All hair colour will eventually wash up warm so if you like your colour on the cool side please know there will be a bit more up keep, for example toning between visits.

Your colour expert will recommend everything you could possibly need or need to know during your visit. Please know you are a valued guest here at Roar and if you have any questions please ask or get in touch.
